Kung Fu Panda creator Mark Osborne at IFFI 53 Master Class

The most remarkable evergreen trend in animation filmmaking is l storytelling, said Mark Osborne, an American filmmaker and animator famous for his films like Kung Fu Panda and The Little Prince. He led a Master Class session on the topic' Animation as a Tool for Expression' on the sidelines of the 53rd International Film Festival of India.

"With the emergence of OTT platforms, creating content for a global audience will be the norm. But at the end of the day, he added that the film needs to connect with the people and touch their hearts ". He further said that for creating such content, finding out what is meaningful to you is essential. "If it is important to you and you are honest about it, you will find your audience. Honesty creates a fresh approach,".

Emphasizing the power of Animation, Mark said that Animation is a diverse and vast medium that can tell any story. Digging deep, he said, "To make somebody feel about something that doesn't even exist is really magnificent. It is the result of a continuous process of rewriting, rebuilding and experimentation. We feel the magic of Animation when you see it come to life eventually."

Mark Osborne also opined that one could not finalize an animation project in script form. "As far as Animation is concerned, the script is not locked. There is always scope for improvisation right to the last moment. It is going to evolve and change. Being a visual medium, we need to allow the visual medium to do a lot of work on the project".

In responding to queries, he said that every animator needs a support system to bring out the stories within them. "Supporting the artists and creators can help miracles happen. A safe space is needed for the artists to create animation".

On a cautious note, aspiring animation makers said that though it is essential to draw inspiration from masters, care should be taken not to imitate their work. "You have to find a balance by exploring your ideas. Every person will have a different perspective and life experience. Therefore, bringing this personal journey and adventure into filmmaking is paramount. Mark Osborne also gave a detailed presentation of his journey in creating the movie The Little Prince by adapting the novel by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Prosenjit Ganguly moderated the session.

The Masterclasses and In-Conversation sessions are being organized jointly by Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), NFDC, Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), and ESG.

A total of 23 sessions comprising masterclasses and in-conversations are being conducted this year to encourage the students and enthusiasts of cinema in every aspect of filmmaking

"The Storyteller is a humble tribute to Satyajit Ray, the doyen of Indian Cinema," said actor Adil Hussain. The Cast and Crew of the Indian Panorama feature film, The Storyteller, addressing a 'Table Talk' at the 53^rd International Film Festival of India in Goa 

Briefing the media and cinephiles about the film, Adil - who played a pivotal role in the movie, said the film is based on a short story of the legendary filmmaker and Storyteller Satyajit Ray.

"As an artist, I feel that art should be free, but in today's world, where a lot of commerce is involved in making a film, and nothing comes free of cost, it is the responsibility of the artist community to respect the originality of somebody's creation and avoid plagiarism. So copyright is a challenging issue, not only in cinema but in every field these days, said actress Tannishtha Chatterjee.

Adding to the discussion on plagiarism Adil Hussain said, "As per Karmik law, anything you get free, you need to face consequence for that. So for any product or service you receive, be it art or anything, either you should pay money or gratitude and acknowledgement to the creator. That should be the founding principle to deal with the issue of copyright."

While speaking about his character, Adil said an actor should travel from his smaller self to the larger self to engross himself in the story and character. "To create empathy for character is one of the biggest quality of an actor," he flagged.

Responding to a query, Actress Tannishtha said the purpose of art is to lead the artists and viewers to question themselves. Supplementing the answer, Adil said the deeper intent of art is to elevate us so that we can ask questions about our existence. "Cinema is not only meant to generate money, but also to create awareness," he asserted.

Producer Suchhanda Chatterjee said the film gives a strong message against plagiarism. "It was a difficult journey of three years, but we are happy with the outcome," she said.

The SStorytellerwas screened at IFFI-53 yesterday and received fabulous reception. The film is also competing for the coveted Golden Peacock at the 53rd edition of the International Film Festival of India.

Synopsis

Tarini Ranjan Bandhopadhyay, a maverick storyteller, is notorious for not sticking to one job and has switched 32 jobs in his working career. Now at 60, retired in Kolkata, and a widower, his only regret is that he could never find the time to give his late wife Anuradha the vacation she always desired. And now, suddenly, out of a job, he has all the time in the world, but his near ones aren't close to him.

गोवा में भारतीय अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म महोत्सव के 53वें संस्करण के मौके पर आज पीआईबी द्वारा आयोजित "टेबल टॉक्स" सत्र में यामी गौतम ने कहा कि लॉस्ट कोई स्टूडियो आधारित फिल्म नहीं है, यह वास्तविक जीवन की घटनाओं पर आधारित कहानी है। आप कहानी में डूबकर चरित्र के हर हिस्से को महसूस कर पाएंगे, जो हमारे आत्म-अनुभव और हमारे आसपास की दुनिया को प्रतिध्वनित करता है।

फिल्म में मुख्य किरदार की भूमिका निभाने का अपना अनुभव बताते हुए यामी ने कहा, जब ऐसा किरदार आपके सामने आता है तो उसे निभाना बहुत चुनौतीपूर्ण हो जाता है। उन्होंने कहा, "कभी-कभी हमें लगता है कि थोड़ा ही काफी है और मैंने इस सिद्धांत का पालन किया। मैंने वास्तव में फिल्म में चरित्र को चित्रित करने की कोशिश नहीं की। मैं किरदार के अंदर ही थी, जैसा वह होता है।"
यामी ने कहा कि कई बार लोगों को ऐसे चरम अनुभव होते हैं, जिन्हें शब्दों में बयां करना मुश्किल होता है। उन्होंने कहा, "लॉस्ट एक खोजी थ्रिलर है, जो उस गहन व्यक्तिगत अनुभव को दर्शाता है।"

निर्देशक अनिरुद्ध रॉय चौधरी ने कहा कि लॉस्ट व्यावहारिक तरीके से मीडिया की सत्यनिष्ठा के मुद्दे पर प्रकाश डालता है।

यामी के किरदार के बारे में अधिक जानकारी देते हुए, अनिरुद्ध ने कहा कि यह एक बहुत ही गहन आंतरिक संघर्ष है जिससे चरित्र गुजरता है। उन्होंने कहा, “कुछ भूमिकाओं में बहुत सारे संवाद और तत्व होते हैं जिन्हें आपको करने की आवश्यकता होती है, लेकिन यह सिर्फ एक चरित्र नहीं है, यह एक दृढ़ विश्वास और प्रतिबद्धता है। असली यामी को जानने के लिए आपको फिल्म देखनी पड़ेगी।"

नाम पढ़कर लगेगा गायिका बंगाल की है पहला गाना जिसकी इस समय खूब चर्चा है। महेश मांजरेकर निर्देशित मराठी फिल्म दे धक्का 2 में रीया ने अपना पहला फिल्मी गाना गाया है यूट्यूब पर पोस्ट करते ही 3 दिन में ही सवालाख दर्शक गाने को देख चुके है । इस सुरीले गाने के वीडियो को अगले 15 दिन एक मिलियन दर्शक मिलने की उम्मीद है ।

दे धक्का 2 की सफलता के विषय में रीया ने बताया मैं अपने को खुशनसीब समझती हूं मुझे यह गाना गाने का मौका मिला। धन्यवाद देना चाहती हूं निर्देशक महेश मांजरेकर और संगीतकार हितेश मोदक को जिन्होंने इतना महत्वपूर्ण गाना मुझे दिया।

बचपन से ही गायिका बनने की चाहत रखने वाली रीया 2017 की चर्चित संगीत प्रतियोगिता ओम शांति ओम में द्वितीय रनर्सअप रही थी। तब से ही वो अपनी गायिकी की छाप छोड़ रही है। विदित हो कि ओम शांति ओम में बाबा रामदेव, गायक संगीतकार शेखर अभिनेत्री सोनाक्षी सिन्हा और गायिका कनिका कपूर जज की भूमिका में थे, शो को होस्ट करते थे अपारशक्ति खुराना, स्टार भारत के उस मंच पर अपनी उपस्थिति सिर्फ दर्ज कराना ही विशेष उपलब्धि थी लेकिन रीया ने विजेता का खिताब भी जीता चाहे दूसरे नंबर पर ही सही, वो उपलब्धि भी कमतर नहीं थी।

उस रियल्टी शो के बाद रीया देश विदेश में अपने स्टेज शो में रम गई, फिल्मों में गाने का संघर्ष जारी रहा बल्कि यू कहे जारी है। फिल्म धक्का दे के गाने की सफलता ने निश्चित ही उन्हे चर्चा में ला दिया है और उनके पास फिल्मी गानों के प्रस्ताव आने लगे है। 

थोड़ा पीछे जाए तो रीया मूलता पली बढ़ी पढ़ी और जन्मी है स्टील सिटी बोकारो में है। ओम शांति ओम की सफलता ने रिया को चास बोकारो की बेटी का तमंगा दे दिया है। डीपीएस बोकारो से 12वीं की परीक्षा पास कर 2014 में वो आगे की पढ़ाई करने दिल्ली चली गई थी जहां मिरंडा हाउस दिल्ली यूनिवर्सिटी में संगीत की शिक्षा ली, साथ ही संगीत प्रतियोगिताओं में भागीदारी की तैयारी भी करने लगी थी तभी 2017 में उनकी प्रतिभा को ओम शांति ओम के जजों ने पहचाना और उन्हे एक बेहतरीन गायिका की पहचान दिलवाई।

रीया का कहना है परिवार में वैसे कोई गायक नही है लेकिन मेरी मम्मी को संगीत से बहुत लगाव है और उन्होंने हमेशा मेरी गायकी को बढ़ावा दिया उन्हे मेरी प्रतिभा पर पूरा विश्वास है। वो हमेशा मुझे प्रोत्साहित करती है बेहतर गायिकी के लिए।

रीया की दिली इच्छा है कि वो अभिनेत्री आलिया भट्ट को गानों में अपनी आवाज़ दे और मराठी में अमृता खानविल्कर के लिए।

रीया सुरीली आवाज़ के साथ ही बहुत खूबसूरत है यदि उनको फिल्मों और वेब सीरिज में अभिनय का प्रस्ताव मिले तो क्या वो स्वीकार करेंगी ? के जवाब में रीया कहती है मुझे पता नही मैं अभिनय कर पाऊंगी या नही लेकिन यदि कोई प्रस्ताव आता है तो कोशिश करने में कोई हर्ज नहीं है। हालांकि मैं स्वभाव से संकोची हूं कितनी सफल होऊंगी समय बतायेगा। 

रीया अब फिलहाल किसी अन्य रियल्टी शो में भागेदारी नही करना चाहती बल्कि अपनी संगीत यात्रा पर ध्यान केन्द्रित कर रही है।
