Kailash Kher's new phenomenon

Whenever Kailash Kher does something, it's always extraordinary. So it wasn't a surprise when he maintained that consistency with the music release of film 'Desi Kattey' that took place recently. What's noteworthy about this is that he has not only given music in the film, he has also written all of the songs and out of the 5 songs in the album, he has lent his melodious voice to 3 of them. 

In Bollywood, a lot of composers write and direct their songs themselves, but this applies to barely 2-3 music directors. But Kailash Kher has both written all the songs and also given them music. 

In the old generation of music composers, the only composers to have accomplished this feat are Late Prem Dhawan and well known music composer Ravindra Jain, who not only used their great sense of rhythm to direct songs, but also utilized their sense of rhyme. In the new generation, Kailash Kher is the only one following suit.

Richa Sharma adds more shine to the country's name in Canada

At a recently held 10 days long 34th Jazz Music festival in Canada's capital city Ottawa, India's popular singer Richa Sharma wowed the audience with her singing on its opening day. This audience of more than 50 thousand, out of which 40 thousand were foreigners, danced along to her rich voice and melodious tunes. 

It is the first time ever since this festival was started that an Indian was invited to perform in it. Regarding this, Richa says, "It was a huge responsibility. I wasn't only overwhelmed to be the first Indian to be a part of this distinguished festival, which means that I had to keep in mind that I was representing the priceless Indian culture through my art, but also that I was performing on the very first day and it was that one performance that would prove to be the pioneer of the success of the festival in the next 9 days.' 

'With my band of 7 musicians, I began my performance with the Guru and Ganpati mantra. I wore a red dress and my band was also dressed likewise. The whole environment was made out to be very Indian.

'After which, I sang Sajda, Billo rani, Mahi ve, zindagi mein koi, Main samajh gayi, Zor ka jhatka, Tauba tauba, Jogi (Coke Studio), Tere bin dil nahi lagda dholna by Nusrat (Fateh Ali Khan) Saab, Aaj jaane ki zidd na karo, Chaptilak and the audience seemed to be having a great time which encouraged me so much that I decided to give them a whole new surprise by singing Titanic's famous song 'My Heart Will Go On'. The surprise of how could someone who sings typical Hindi, Punjabi and Sufi songs sing an out and out English song was worth it.'

'It was also for the first time that the set performance time of 1 minute 45 seconds was increased to 20 minutes due to public demand. The organizers also told us that this is the first time in 38 years that the public enjoyed and danced so much.'

'Oh yes, even saying her name gives me goosebumps, she has received 18 Grammy awards and the superlative Rolling Stone has put her on top of the 100 Best Musicians list. Her name is Aretha Franklin. There were other amazing singers. 10 time Grammy award winner Bobby Mc'Ferrin, 4 time Grammy Award winner Dianne Reeves and other such great singers. Counting all the singers, musicians and band members, there were a total of around 60-70 artists and 3 stages, imagine the fun!', said Richa, when asked about her fellow performers. 

'The organizers were given a long list of singers and musicians from India. Their research team spent around 2 months looking for the singer most suited for this festival. My international manager Aamir Ramsi was also trying to have an Indian artist perform in this festival so I am also very thankful to him.', she said when asked how she was chosen to be invited to this precious event. 

Who would she recommend to go for this seminar next time, now that she has paved the way for other Indians to be a part of this festival ? She said, 'I think there is no one quite as good as Sonu Nigam but Sunidhi Chauhan is no less, either. Besides they require a good Punjabi singer so I would definitely suggest all time favorite Gurdas Mann ji. I would also love to have something like this happen in India, too. We neither lack organizers, nor do we lack audience. All we need is to try'

Saree Ke Fall Sa hitmaker Nakash Aziz's vogue in Bollywood is equally matched by that in Bengali cinema. His most recent number 'Remix Qawwali' from Bengali film Bindaas is gaining more and more popularity among listeners by the minute. This song from Bengali film Bindaas has been filmed on well known actor Dev. Just like his other songs, Nakash's 'Remix Qawwali', as the name suggests, is also entertaining and fun. 

 

Before this, Nakash has sung songs like Dhating Naach which is still loved by listeners. Besides this, he has also sung in two other Bengali films, Calling Bell and Game.

Kailash Kher whenever sings any song people always enjoy and love his songs. Few days back Kailash Kher got 61^st Film Fare Award for the song “Pandagala Digivachavo”. The movie was released in the year 2013 and the name of the movie is “Mirchi” and the music is given by “Devi Sri Prasad”. Other than Kailash Kher many too were nominated like Daler Mehandi, Ranjith Jabilli, Shankar Mahadevan, Suchith Sureshan and many more also there. This Kailash Kher second Film Fare award. Before this in 2006 Hindi Film “Faana” song “Subahaan Allah” got award for this song.

For this award Kailash Kher said “Whenever your work is been recognized then naturally it is been liked by everyone. I also felt very nice. After getting award you get motivation for doing work to the best and it is inspiration for your future too.

In this song the music is given by Mikey McCleary. He has also given background music & given music for various films like Shaadi Ke Side Effects, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, Shanghai, Shaitan, Kahaani, LSD, Nautanki Saala, David and many more on the list.

It is a romantic song, I & Shweta Pandit has sung this song. Amitabh Bhattacharya has written lyrics & A.R Rehman Sir has given music. Director Arif Ali has directed this film & audience are liking the songs of the movie

v This song is totally different then your previous songs. Any special reason behind this???

The reason is this I want to sing all type of songs,I don't want to be typecast for any particular style of singing and i am lucky enough that Rehman Sir think that I can sing Bekasoor song and give me this soft song to me.    

 v How was the experience working with A.R Rehman???

Working with A.R Rehman Sir is always a great experience. Earlier also I have worked with Rehman Sir But not full length song , first time I have sung romantic song for him. Working with A.R Rehman Sir for this song like my dreams come true.

v How is the response of the audience regarding this song???

Audience are liking the song very much. Even I am liking it. Earlier I have sang songs like Dhating Naach, Gandi Baat. All these songs are full of fun & energy.

     

v How do feel when you are so popular & loved among the auidence???

I have struggled a lot to reach till this position. Behind this there lot of contribution of my Mom and Dad. In life every step they are always there with me. During my childhood anywhere I took part in any performance my Mama came along with me however far it used to be. My father works in Bank & he has also given me all the luxurious in my music life like expansive instruments  & never made me feel anything missing in my life.

 v  What do you enjoy the most recording or at the stage???

Both the places have different enjoyment & the best you feel near the audience who love you. Performing in front of them is the most amazing thing I feel. When you sing song on the stage on the spot reaction  you get from the people.

v   Last year you sang many hit songs like Dhating Naach, Gandi Baat, Saree Ke Fall Sa as these songs were loved by the audience now what new???

Last year was a great time I sang three hit songs and for my favorite cricket player also I sang Sachin Anthem. Now Dil Beqasoor song is on the top hit list, as my new songs will come I will tell you’ll.

v Whatever songs who have sang with Pritam is all full of fun & with A.R Rehman all simplicity songs how come???

Whenever I am with Pritam Da we always do lot of masti & that is why I get songs with him that way only. Rehman Sir is very silent & peace person so with him I have to stay that way itself so I get songs also that way to sing. According to nature of people I Got songs.   

 v   You are lucky for Shahid Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor is lucky for u and have sung any other song for him???

You can say that but for me He is Lucky that I have sang songs for him in the movie R Rajkumar & Phata Poster Nikhla Hero which was a super hit. Now I have not sung any song for him but I will love to do it again and again.

So the album is full of familiar tunes but none of the songs sound like extended jingles.”
